Albany County Sheriff’s Office

Welcome to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office
Employee Assistance Program

The Albany County Sheriff’s Office has established an Employee Assistance Program to assist benefited employees and their families. This program provides confidential access to health professionals to assist employees and their families with any type of emotional distress. This program provides access to a network of specially selected professionals that practice in Laramie and Cheyenne. The Employee Assistance Program can help with everyday stressors and difficulties employees experience in and out of the workplace. These stressors can affect your life and have an impact on your well–being.

Albany County wants to help provide resources so that employees and their immediate dependents can quickly and conveniently get in touch with a qualified provider. These services are in complete privacy! Between February 1st and January 31st of each year, County employees and their household members will be provided up to three sessions, at no charge. If you need additional services you may use your health insurance benefits and each of the providers listed will accept our insurance.

You do not need a referral for any services. Preferred well qualified providers who work closely with our program can be accessed completely anonymously. Click on the Find a Provider link to search our preferred providers and contact them directly and confidentially to arrange sessions.

Please note, you may use any fully licensed mental health provider you wish. If you prefer a provider that is not listed, please have your desired provider contact us at admin@postwyo.com to verify credentials and arrange payment.

FAQs

Why use the EAP?

The EAP network consists of mental health counselors who stand ready to assist Sheriff’s Office employees in identifying issues and planning care. EAP providers are located in Cheyenne, Laramie, and other Wyoming cities.

What if I want to attend more than three sessions?

The three sessions provided by the program are meant to support planning services. The Albany County health insurance program can be employed for an indefinite number of sessions if desired.

Why doesn’t the EAP provide as many sessions as I want or need?

Albany County’s health insurance is your primary resource for medical and mental health care. The EAP is meant to make it easier to connect with suitable providers and to access care. It is a wellness program.

How do referrals work?

You may self-refer by contacting a provider directly by email or telephone to schedule an appointment. You should expect a response within 24 hours. Contact Dr. Post’s office at admin@postwyo.com if you would like assistance in completing a referral.

How do I know that my sessions will be private?

EAP network providers are private practitioners who enter into a client-therapist relationship with those who are referred or who self-refer. They are required by law and ethical standards to honor confidentiality, subject to legal exceptions they will describe. They cannot reveal the content of sessions to anyone without the written consent of their client. Your case will not be discussed with anyone associated with the Albany County Sheriff's office or Dr. Post without your specific consent.

Who administers the City EAP?

Psychologist Jerry Post, Psy.D., of Cheyenne administers the EAP. His practice hosts the web page and manages the network of providers.
